Potty Time!

Category: Adventures in Parenting – Mommy Rimes – 6:59 pm

Warning: This post is potty-heavy.  For those of you with no interest in the body functions of a 2 year old, please skip today’s post.

Miss R has OFFICIALLY gone poop in the potty!  It was miraculous!  It was stupendous! It earned her TWO m & m’s!

Those of you still with us will like to know that I have saved you from pictures of this remarkable victory over the potty monster.  Daddy wanted to take pictures.  I think he’s been watching too much South Park.

She got to wear her Dora underwear around the house and was completely happy.  She didn’t even realize what all the fuss was about.

Until about 10 minutes later when she had to go again and missed.

Oh well.  We’ll get there.

Oh Christmas Tree part 2

When we got our tree home, it needed the typical treatment. Cut off some limbs, shake the heck out of it, and stand it up straight in the base.

Then, we got down to business.

And here is our pretty little tree taking over our living room. Don’t you just love sparkley, shiny things?

Oh Christmas Tree!

Category: Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 10:46 am

We went hunting for the perfect Christmas tree this weekend. We decided that it had to be as tall as Daddy and smaller across than Mommy’s arms. (We’re real technical people over here)

We took Uncle Paul, Aunt Sara and Tess Doggie with us, since they needed a tree too.

It was a beautiful day, as far as winter days go. It wasn’t too cold, it wasn’t snowing, and it wasn’t muddy. So we hunted around for about a half hour looking for THE tree.

We finally found it. A cute little Frasier Fur.

Join us next time when we decorate our lovely tree!

Saturday Sky

Category: Pictures, not baby – Mommy Rimes – 7:15 am

A day late, but here’s what we saw yesterday morning.

saturday-sky.JPG

That’s the view from our kitchen porch.  It was quite a sight.

Over at Knerq, Nicole does this every week.  I was inspired yesterday, and probably only this Saturday to do this :)

I just had to take a break yesterday, although it was very hard.  They say that after 21 days of doing something it becomes habit.  Sure enough, this silly blog has become a habit.

Last Post of NaBloPoMo

I can’t believe it! I actually managed to go an entire month without failing once!

It’s astonishing. It’s stupendous! It’s miraculous!

It’s exhausting.

I’m tired. I think I’ll lie down and take a little nap now.

But don’t worry, I will probably keep up with the posts more often than in the past, so you should stop by now and then still, even though November is officially over.

Christmas Gifts and Crab

Category: Christmas – Mommy Rimes – 3:37 pm

So, I’ve been feverishly knitting, sewing, crafting, and cooking for the holidays. I’ve come up with yet another very cute little knit item that takes roughly 2 hours of knitting to finish up.  I’m not going to tell you what it is, because my mom reads this site and she’s TOTALLY getting one.  But I will tell you, they are Cute with a capital C.  And terribly funny.

Mom-the horse people will love this one.

In other news, the Quilt along is going well.  I’ve finished the 3rd block, but no pictures yet.  Sorry.

As for Christmas goodies, the caramel corn is so far my favorite.  But I’m also wanting to try some freezer cookies.  That way I can make it up now and cook them up later when I’m terribly busy.

I also made some yummy crab Alfredo last night.  Really good.

I melted 1/4 cup of butter in a skillet with some garlic.  Then added crab flakes, 1 cup of heavy cream/milk (the recipe called for half and half, but I didn’t have any), and some pepper. Then once that bubbled up and got thicker, I poured it over some noodles.

As my husband said, “this is great, I can’t believe you just threw this all together.”

I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to impress but has only 20 minutes of prep time.  I don’t even think it took me that long.

I just realized this is a slightly disjointed post, but oh well.  That’s the way it goes.

Nursery Rhyme Wednesday

Umpee Umpee sat on a wall.

Umpee Umpee fell down.

Umpee Umpee are you ok?

Mommy! Umpee Umpee!

He’s our new favorite ever since we stopped at the bookstore and saw him sitting on the shelf.

Hat

Category: Pictures – Mommy Rimes – 9:02 am

I made a hat. I don’t know who it’s for yet.

But it’s pretty versatile

I think there will be more of these in the near future.

say what?!

Category: Adventures in Parenting – Daddy Rimes – 10:03 pm

Overheard this evening in the Rimes’ household:

Daddy Rimes: Who does daddy love?

Little Miss Rimes: huh?

Daddy Rimes: Who does daddy love?

Little Miss Rimes: Daddy, you loves your monkey!

No idea where it came from, and I didn’t bother to ask; apparently, I really love my monkey, which I didn’t know I even had.

Quilt along

Category: not baby – Mommy Rimes – 8:50 am

So I joined an online Quilt Along. Like I need one more thing to do this holiday season, right?

Anyway, it’s 2 weeks in and I’m actually getting my blocks done.

If you want to see the blocks, you can visit Crazy Mom Quilts.

Here’s week one.

And week two.

I’m using Urban Garden fabrics. They are just so nice.
