Christmas Baby

Category: Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 9:16 am

Here’s a post just for Nicole.
We do have a Christmas tree this year. We wrapped up our little ornament stealer and trudged out to a tree farm with Aunt Sara and Uncle Paul. She was such a trooper. Even the cold hands weren’t enough to stop her from checking out all the mud puddles between the trees. She even got to wear her new purple boots.
Mommy and Daddy finally chose a beautiful white fir tree. It had nice fluffy branches, wasn’t too scratchy, and so full that we wouldn’t need any ornaments for little fingers to break.
We brought the tree home and it was then that we realized we had chosen an 9′ tree with a 5′ span. That would never fit in our tiny living room.
So what to do with the perfect tree? Screw the tree stand into our kitchen porch and put up our tree outside. Crisis averted and ornament problem solved.
We now enjoy our first live tree as a family from the warmth of our living room.

Pictures will follow as soon as Mommy can find the camera cord to plug it into the computer.

BABY!

Category: Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 2:57 pm

“What’s on the cereal box?”
“BABY!”
“Who’s that in the book?”
“BABY!”
“Who’s on the Huggies box?”
“BABY!”

Yes, that’s our word of the week. Daddy took our own baby to the grocery store last weekend and they got stopped up in the baby aisle. Our little munchkin took her sweet time walking down that particular aisle pointing out EVERY SINGLE BABY on the shelves.

It’s a good thing Daddy has such a good sense of humor. There must have been at least 100 babies on those shelves. Now, I’m not sure she got every one of them, but I’m sure she will next week.

Turkey Day

Category: PARTY!, Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 9:54 am

Baby’s first Turkey Day that she could actually appreciate has come and gone.  She amused the visitors with belly button antics, ba-byes, and kisses.  She loved the sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Mommy and Daddy did too.

A big thanks to all the early gift givers as well.  Baby loves her new baby doll, the singing dolphins, and Mommy loves all the nice warm pink pants.

The long weekend was really nice.  Baby Rimes got to go outside and play in the leaves that Mommy and Daddy tried raking.  She also enjoyed sleeping in and visiting with Grandma while Mommy and Daddy got some much needed time away from the house and the Baby. Thanks Grandma!

Scared Ya!

Baby Rimes’ new favorite words: Boo! and Gobble Gobble Gobble!

First great story. Mommy and Baby usually snuggle in bed while Daddy takes his shower. Yesterday, Baby got tired of snuggling and scooted out of bed and ran down the hall. She stood so patiently for Daddy to get done with his shower and open the door. When he opened the door, she shouted, “BOO!” and nearly knocked Daddy over! Oh, the hilarity!

Second great story. Baby has learned that a turkey says, “Gobble Gobble Gobble!” And she will walk around the house gobbling at everyone. I will have to get video of this, because this medium just doesn’t do this justice. However, let me assure you, it’s pretty darn funny.
Happy Thanksgiving!

This crazy thing called technology

So Mommy Rimes just figured out how to post pictures (with the help of Daddy of course). Without much more ado, here are some pictures that you all should have seen earlier of Baby Rimes (and Daddy and a party goer).

Green Drool

Category: Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 3:18 pm

Yup. It was green. Why, you ask? Well, artist Mommy thought Baby Rimes could handle some art time. Mommy and Daddy bought her some JUMBO Crayolas and sat her down at her mini table with some paper, and said, “Go!” Baby Rimes, of course, has done much art in the past few months. Her favorite colors are green and red. While Baby Rimes was busy at her art, Mommy was busy at the big table with hers. Daddy was in the kitchen doing a little post-dinner clean-up. Baby Rimes is contentedly coloring. Until…

“Look, Momm,y what I did!” She exclaims in true baby form (it was actually more like “Bayya Bop!”) and holds up her drawing for Mommy’s approval. “Oh, honey, that’s a lovely pict….AHHH! What is coming out of your mouth!” Yup, you guessed it, green drool. While Mommy frantically looks around for what’s left of the green crayon, Daddy decides that this must be the next post. So here it is, a few teeth marks, soggy wrapping paper, and most of a green crayon left over, is the post about Baby’s green drool. Fortunately, with Mommy’s job, she is well aware of the fact that taking a few nibbles of a green Crayola isn’t going to kill you. It might taste like wax, but it’s definitely not going to kill you.

Unlike the time Baby tried eating her Osaka Orange Sherwin Williams latex paint. But that’s another story for another time.

Falling Season

Category: Adventures in Parenting, Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 2:13 pm

I have noticed an over-abundance of little bruises and scrapes on our little punkin’ lately. Of course, we’re not bad parents, but the first thing that pops into my head whenever we’re in public is, “please don’t think we abuse this poor child.”

Of course, what I say is, “yes, this is our darling little klutz, isn’t she graceful?”

So where do this purply blue splotches come from?  Oh, let’s see…it could be from climbing onto the kitchen chair and dancing on the seat with excitement. Or it could be from running through our hardwood floored house in socks.  Or perhaps it’s from crawling under the coffee table/bookshelf/bench/couch to retrieve a toy.  It could also come from the walking down the sidewalk while looking up into the trees or watching the boys across the street play hacky-sack or the woman walking her dog.

And each of these times: SMACK! Down goes our little klutz.  Now, if she’s anything like her mommy, she will have these bruises until sometime in her adult life (I still don’t know where that bruise on my elbow came from).

But I still fuss and fret over every new bump, bruise, scrape, and bit lip.

boxes

Category: Playtime, Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 8:52 am

Baby Rimes is truly enjoying the packing process.  She gets in boxes and scoots around. Topples them over and hides toys in them.  She even helps us pack now and then - that must be where the remote went to. But, she is absolutely the best at unpacking. Mommy and Daddy tried packing Ella’s things for almost an hour yesterday, while she dutifully unpacked all of her things and put them back where they belonged.  Ok, not everything went back to where it actually belonged, because she got the idea that she was funny, and just started flinging her clothes over her shoulder and smiling and saying, “uh-oh!”

Ahhh, I can’t wait to let her help us unpack.

Almost 1!

Category: Adventures in Parenting, Uncategorized – Mommy Rimes – 8:19 pm

We are only 2 weeks away from the very first birthday! Mommy and Daddy have been planning a birthday party, however, with Baby’s birthday present being a brand new house, the party planning has been a little slow. Baby (Almost Toddler) Rimes will be celebrating her first birthday at her new residence.  If you are in the area, stop on by, you don’t have to bring a present, but if you bring some blueberries, she’ll be your friend forever!

Tooth Fairy Strikes Again!

Category: Adventures in Parenting, Uncategorized, sleepless nights – Mommy Rimes – 2:27 pm

We have another happy little tooth to add to the first!  With much munching of grahams, gnawing on hands, biting of table corners, the second little tooth joins the ranks.  And of course, the wonderful sleepless nights that go along with it.  Last night, Baby was up at 11, 1, and 3.  The last of which was an hour and half marathon of crying, biting, and all out wailing.

Anyone with suggestions for getting through this with as little sleep deprivation as possible will earn themselves some serious brownie points or cookies.
